Stephen Lodge co-wrote Kenny Rogers' sole gritty Western epic, the CBS TV movie Rio Diablo (1993), which also starred Travis Tritt, Naomi Judd, and Stacy Keach. His first significant screenwriting credit was for the United Artists film The Honkers (1972), featuring James Coburn. Shortly thereafter, he wrote, produced, and directed his own film, One Block Away (1975). Another notable work, Kingdom of the Spiders (1977), starring William Shatner from Star Trek (1966), has become a cult late-night TV horror favorite. Influenced heavily by "B" westerns as a child, Steve aspired to act from a young age and was fascinated by visits to movie sets. Receiving an 8mm camera at age 10, he began writing, directing, and starring in his own productions. He started his professional acting career at 12 and performed at Hollywood’s renowned Corriganville western movie ranch by 16. After college, he joined Columbia Pictures, having developed a strong interest in writing since high school. During his two years at Columbia, he worked as an assistant to the producer on the TV series Camp Runamuck (1965). He later spent several seasons as a costumer on the classic TV show The Fugitive (1963). Steve has dedicated his life to the film industry, contributing to numerous TV series, made-for-TV movies, and feature films. He currently resides in Rancho Mirage, California, near Palm Springs, with his wife Beth and their two dogs, Hollie and Crystal. Since relocating to the desert, he has written, produced, and directed a 90-minute TV special titled Bordello; authored several magazine articles; and completed additional screenplays, including adaptations of his novel Shadows of Eagles, Charley Sunday's Texas Outfit!, and Nickel-Plated Dream.
