Angel Ramirez Jr. was born and raised in Spanish Harlem ("El Barrio"), New York. This versatile talent has made a significant impact across the entertainment industry, achieving success in both music and film. With his captivating presence and smooth Puerto Rican tenor voice, Angel is poised to become a Latin superstar, winning hearts across Latin America and worldwide. His musical journey took off as a key member of the platinum-selling group "The Barrio Boyzz," where he honed his skills. Angel contributed not only as a harmonizer but also as a lead vocalist and songwriter. Notably, Grammy-winning artist Marc Anthony, a close friend, recorded Angel’s song “Te Amare.” During this period, Angel and his group collaborated with Tex-Mex sensation Selena on the duet “Donde Quiera Que Estes.” The Barrio Boyzz made history as the first Latin group to appear on the acclaimed music show The Soul Train. They released eight albums and shared stages with legends like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Michael Bolton.
Despite his achievements with the group, Angel is ready to step into the spotlight as the Latin superstar he is destined to be. Beyond music, in 2005 Angel co-hosted CBS's talent search show "Nueva Estrella Awards" alongside Jewelz Lopez, the popular New York City radio personality from KTU 103.5 FM. Following this, he hosted "Pasos Latinos" on BET Networks, a Latin show concept that earned an Emmy Award. Angel has also found success in film, theater, and television, appearing in major Hollywood films such as "Bustin' Loose," "Fort Apache The Bronx," "I Like It Like That," and Spike Lee’s "Do The Right Thing." His TV credits include appearances on "Ryan's Hope," "The City," and "New York Undercover."
These highlights showcase Angel’s diverse talents and potential for superstardom. Recently, he co-wrote the song “Puro Corazon” with Grammy winner Fernando O. Sorio and two former members of Ny3, a group Angel was part of two years ago. The track is featured on one of the highest-grossing reggaeton compilation albums, alongside top artists like Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderón, Don Omar, Wisin y Yandel, and Ivy Queen. Angel is currently working on a comeback project to complete what he began, inviting the world to fall in love once again with the “Boy From The Barrio,” Angel Ramirez Jr.
