He views himself as an artist across multiple disciplines, including music, art, fashion, and dance.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Badie launched his career when his hair designs caught the attention of legendary stylist Robert Louis Stevenson. This connection led to his first film industry role as key hairstylist on Eve’s Bayou, directed by Kasi Lemmons. Under Stevenson’s guidance, Badie’s career blossomed with projects like Having Our Say, featuring Diahann Carroll, Ruby Dee, and Amy Madigan; the period drama A Lesson Before Dying, starring Don Cheadle, Cicely Tyson, and Mekhi Phifer; and the crime drama The Corner, with T.K. His television work includes the true crime film The Good Nurse, starring Jessica Chastain, Eddie Redmayne, and Ajay Naidu, and HBO’s Lovecraft Country, featuring Jonathan Majors, the late Michael Kenneth Williams, Jurnee Smollett, Aunjanue Ellis, and Courtney B. Vance. Badie contributed to NBC’s Law and Order: SVU for seven seasons; Starz’s Power for three seasons; WGN’s groundbreaking series Underground; and Apple TV+’s The Changeling, based on Victor LaValle’s novel, starring LaKeith Stanfield, Clark Backo, and Adina Porter. His career also took him to New Zealand, where he served as hair supervisor for HBO’s Our Flag Means Death.
After Power’s success, Badie broadened his film industry role by producing the spin-offs Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force, while also designing signature hairstyles for both series.
In 2019, Badie earned an Emmy nomination for his work on the third season of HBO’s True Detective, starring Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, and Stephen Dorff.
His film credits include Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, starring Naomi Ackie, Nafessa Williams, and Stanley Tucci for Sony; Fences, featuring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis; Queen & Slim, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith, directed by Melina Matsoukas; Girls Trip, with Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish; Monster’s Ball, starring Halle Berry; Lee Daniels’ Shadowboxer, with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Helen Mirren; the Lionsgate comedy The Cookout; I Am Legend, starring Will Smith; Spike Lee’s Miracle at St. Anna, featuring Michael Ealy and Derek Luke; and American Gangster, starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.
