Arnie Holland is the owner and President of Lightyear Entertainment, a film and music distribution company that has released over 120 films and 100 albums. Holland possesses extensive experience in film, music, television, and video. Lightyear, based in Los Angeles and New York, focuses on releasing quality independent films and music while generating revenue for producers and artists. The company originated at RCA in 1981 and was formed through a management buyout of RCA Video Productions, Inc. in 1987. Initially producing and releasing various feature films, children's programs, concert films, and co-producing the iconic Jane Fonda Workout series, Lightyear eventually concentrated on distribution. After many years working with Warner Home Video and Warner Music Group, Lightyear’s films and music are now distributed by The Orchard (films) and Caroline/Universal Music Group (music). Notable film releases include Tanna (2017 Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language Film), Goldstone (theatrically released in 2018), Aria, The Hippopotamus, Across the Line, We Go On, Rocksteady: The Roots of Reggae, Jane Fonda’s Original Workout Series, Stevie Nicks: Live At Red Rocks, Elvis '56, Kevin Hart: Live Comedy From The Laff House, Best of the Beatles, Get Thrashed!, The Return of Swamp Thing, Me & My Mates vs. the Zombie Apocalypse, and around 40 feature films from African American producers including Jean Claude LaMarre and Marcello Thedford. Lightyear’s music catalog includes artists such as Buddy Rich, Damian Marley, Julian Marley, Nina Simone, Sophie B. Hawkins, The Call, Grover Washington Jr., Warren G, Karyn White, among others. Holland, educated at the Wharton School of Finance and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, wrote his 1973 law school thesis on the future legal challenges of the then-nonexistent home video industry. After seven years at Capitol Records in Hollywood, he joined RCA VideoDiscs in 1981 as a pioneer in building the home video market. At RCA, he established standards for music clearance, convinced movie studios of the profitability of the sell-through business, and played a key role in expanding the fitness, children’s, and music video genres. At Lightyear, Holland has executive produced over 15 films and distributed more than 120 others.
