Sharon Leigh Bruneau was born in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, raised in Toronto, and later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where she began studying and working as an actress. She arrived in Los Angeles in the spring of 1992.
She was a cheerleader at East York High School in Toronto, Canada.
She served as one of three choreographers for the "Men of Chippendales" in Canada.
She has a black pug named Jack.
Bruneau studied dance throughout her teenage years, which led to numerous television appearances in Canada.
Her slender physique and distinctive ethnic features brought her success as a fashion model in Canada, along with opportunities to host various television and video specials over the years.
At the height of her modeling and dance career, Bruneau contracted pneumonia. To recover, she began weight training and, encouraged by bodybuilding icon Joe Weider, started competing in fitness competitions. Within a few years, she became one of the most sought-after and striking figures in the fitness world.
She was dubbed "Bodybuilding's No. 1 pin-up" by FLEX magazine from 1992 to 1997.
She was among the first women to sign a contract with Weider Health & Fitness and Weider Publications, from 1991 to 1998.
In an era of specialization, Sharon Bruneau is much more than the impeccably sculpted physique seen on international magazine covers and hosting fitness shows, events, and network specials for over a decade.
Although she retired from fitness competitions in 1997, Sharon continues to enjoy working out, now focusing on ballet, jazz, Pilates, and Wushu, reflecting her athletic roots.
