Timo Jacobs began his film career in 2003 with "3 Minuten Heroes," directed by the legendary German filmmaker Klaus Lemke. Collaborating with Lemke, Jacobs starred as the lead in four additional films, as well as numerous other German and international TV and cinema productions.
In 2008, Jacobs appeared alongside Alba Rohrwacher in Giorgio Diritti's "The Man Who Will Come" (L'Uomo Che Verrà), which won the Grand Prize of the Jury at the 2009 Rome International Film Festival. He received the New Berlin Film Award for his role in "Beach Boy" and was honored with the Montblanc Movie Prize at the 2001 Hamburg Film Festival for his lead role in "Pete the Heat!" Jacobs portrayed a sniper in the German Wehrmacht in Spike Lee's war epic "Buffalo Soldiers," and in 2011, he starred alongside Mario Adorf in the hooligan drama "Gegengrade." In 2014, he earned a "Bambi" award in the TV-Event of the Year category for his role in "Bornholmer Straße." His performance in "Tatort: Borowski und der Himmel über Kiel," directed by Christian Schwochow, garnered him a nomination for the German Actor Award in 2016.
Since 2016, Jacobs has been a main cast member of the German crime series "Der Kriminalist." In 2017, he completed filming for various episodes of German shows including "Wilsberg," "Bad Cop," and "Welser."
In addition to acting, Timo Jacobs is also a producer, director, and writer. His first film, "Klappe Cowboy!" released in 2011, won the Audience Award at the Achtung Berlin Film Festival, the Deposhir Film Festival prize in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Jury Prize at the International Film Festival in Louisville, Kentucky.
His second film as producer, director, writer, and lead actor, "Mann im Spagat - Pace, Cowboy, Pace," premiered in German cinemas in 2017.
