Steve is a German-American actor, musician, and media producer. Born to his German mother Evelyn and American father William, who initially married and lived in Germany before relocating to the United States a few years prior to his birth.
During his teenage years in Oswego, NY, Steve performed as a post-Civil War soldier stationed at Fort Ontario. For two summers, his role involved daily rifle-musket firing, military drills, and participation in parades and ceremonies.
In 1992, performing under the stage name Exit, he became the frontman and composer for the performance art band 99¢ Special. The band toured extensively across various cities and states, building a fanbase and attracting label interest before disbanding in 1996. He resumed composing in 2005 with the project One Cent Left and performed with the cyber/steampunk band Psyche Corporation in the late 2000s. Additionally, he appeared and sang in a 100-person choir alongside 99¢ Special bandmate Darren Blunt on the Einstürzende Neubauten DVD Palast der Republik (2006).
Though passionate about acting from a young age, Steve’s first on-set experience came in 2011 as an extra in the independent film Hick (2011), starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Shortly thereafter, due to a strong resemblance to Tom Mison, he was chosen as the body double for Ichabod Crane in several episodes of FOX's Sleepy Hollow (2013). Since then, he has continued work as a body double and stand-in, and in 2016 appeared on stage in Ray Wagner’s play Inherit the Stars.
In 2000, Steve founded H.O.W.D.Y. Media®, a successful multimedia production company specializing in web development, graphic design, audio and video production, and music. In 2003, he enhanced his video production skills by attending Onondaga Community College for single-camera video production. He earned an Associate of Science degree in acting from Cape Fear Community College in 2021, then pursued studies in audio production, acting, and screenwriting at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, graduating in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (A.I.) and a minor in Creative Writing.
In 2024, Steve became an early member of Uncontained Improv, focusing on the techniques of Viola Spolin and Sandy Meisner. He also collaborated with a local independent film production company, contributing to administration and leading meetings and screenwriting sessions.
