Emmy award-winning Mark Steines is recognized as one of the entertainment industry's most dynamic and respected television journalists.
Hailing from small-town Iowa to the Hollywood red carpets, Steines, a three-time Emmy winner, has become one of the most trusted and charismatic faces in entertainment news. Since arriving in Hollywood, he has interviewed thousands of A-list actors, producers, musicians, and athletes.
Steines and Leeza Gibbons annually host KTLA's Rose Parade broadcast. For over six years, he hosted Hallmark Channel's "Home & Family," contributing to the show’s three Emmy nominations. Alongside co-host Debbie Matenopoulos, Steines engaged audiences with a variety of lifestyle topics, DIY projects, cooking segments, celebrity interviews, and expert advice. He set a high standard in entertainment news during his 17-plus years at "Entertainment Tonight," where he started as lead entertainment reporter and weekend anchor before becoming co-host with Mary Hart from 2005 to 2012.
Recently, Steines appeared as a celebrity guest on Game Show Network's "Caroline & Friends" and "Daily Draw," as well as HGTV's "Design Star." His other hosting credits include "2008 Miss America Live!," VH1's "Greatest TV Rock 'n' Roll Moments," VH1's "The 25 Sexiest," the "Golden Karma Awards" honoring international philanthropy, Mark Burnett's AOL interactive game "Gold Rush," and the "Hollywood Christmas Parade."
His accolades include an Emmy for the KCAL-TV special "Beyond Endurance: Madagascar," an Emmy and Golden Mic for "Beyond Endurance: Borneo," an Emmy as host of the 2005 Hollywood Christmas Parade, a National Iris Award for the special "The Big Business of Sports Endorsements," and national recognition from the Women's Sports Foundation for impartial reporting on the Women's National Football League.
Steines is also acclaimed as a photographer, capturing beauty through portraits and stunning landscapes. His best-selling inspirational picture book features his family's 3-pound therapy dog, philanthropist and social media influencer Norbert. Titled "Norbert's Little Lessons For a Big Life," the book shares lessons on friendship, individuality, family, and love. Published by Simon & Schuster, it was written by his wife Julie Steines and co-author Dr. Virginia Freyermuth.
His first photography book, "See The Light: A Passage To Sierra Leone," documents the Light House Medical Mission’s efforts to raise awareness of fresh water needs in impoverished areas. Other photography work includes shooting over 30 celebrities for Bootcampaign.org’s patriotic campaign and editorial assignments for magazines such as People, Angeleno, Closer, Focus, Paper, Casual Living, The Wag, Animal Wellness, Groomer to Groomer, and Life After 50.
As an actor, Steines has guest-starred on TV shows including "CSI: NY," "The Practice," "Medium," "Half & Half," "America's Next Top Model," "Handy Manny," and appeared in Sony Pictures' film "Nixon."
He studied comedy at The Groundlings, a renowned improv school, and earned a degree in Meisner Technique from the JoAnne Baron/DW Brown Acting Studio.
A natural fitness enthusiast, Steines was featured in People Magazine’s "Sexiest Man Alive" issue and named one of Men's Fitness Magazine’s "25 Fittest Men in America." He also served as spokesperson for Beachbody’s "10-Minute Trainer" program.
Born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, Steines attended the University of Northern Iowa on a full football scholarship and graduated with a degree in Radio and Television. He began his career as a regional sports reporter before moving to Los Angeles and national television.
An avid DIY enthusiast, Steines enjoys spending his free time fixing, remodeling, and restoring various projects. He lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife, acclaimed children’s book author Julie Steines, their two sons Kai and Avery, daughter Parker Rose, golden retriever Fred, and therapy dog Norbert.
