Richard Kim Milford was a multi-talented actor, singer, songwriter, composer, and dancer who began his career at age 10 with SummerStock Theatre in Chicago. At 17, he appeared in the original production of Hair, portraying both Woof and Claude. In 1970, he received the Faith and Freedom Award from the Religious Heritage of America for his role as the Prodigal Son in ABC's "Round Trip" series. He later toured in the first concert production of Jesus Christ Superstar, playing Jesus and Judas, and starred as Rocky in the initial production of The Rocky Horror Show (Roxy Cast in Los Angeles and on Broadway in New York City). His stage credits also include Henry Sweet Henry, 1776, Your Own Thing, Rockabye Hamlet, More Than You Deserve, and Sunset.
Kim served as lead singer for the Jeff Beck Group from August to September 1972 before transitioning to television, appearing in TV movies such as Song of the Succubus (with Brooke Adams) and Rock-A-Die-Baby (also known as Night of the Full Moon), both aired in 1975 on ABC's Wild World of Entertainment, as well as an episode of Mannix titled Portrait in Blues. His film appearances include Laserblast, Bloodbrothers, Corvette Summer, Escape, Nightmare at Noon, and Wired to Kill.
He released two singles: "Muddy River Water" (Decca) and "Help is on the Way, Rozea." Additionally, he appears on the Sunset soundtrack, the Roxy Cast album of The Rocky Horror Show, and contributed the song "Justice," produced by Robert Margouleff and Malcolm Cecil, to the movie Ciao! Manhattan (featuring Edie Sedgwick). Some bootlegs exist of the August-September 1972 Jeff Beck concerts featuring him. He also performed with the made-for-TV group Moon in the two aforementioned TV movies.
Richard Kim Milford passed away in Chicago on June 16, 1988, from heart failure following heart surgery several weeks earlier. He was 37 years old.
