Vanessa Lynn is a bestselling writer, playwright, producer, and founder of Parables Entertainment, known for suspenseful, dramatic, and inspirational family-friendly stories anchored by emotional depth and unexpected twists. Since 2006, she has written and produced a wide range of stage plays and filmed content, including the gospel dramas Unequally Yoked, Affairs, and Boss Lady, whose live recordings received national in-store Walmart distribution between 2012 and 2013. Her comedy-suspense play Deranged and the musical Church Girl (for which she served as a contributing writer) toured select U.S. cities and Canada, with Church Girl later airing on BET and Centric networks.
Lynn's work spans gospel theatre, suspense and comedy-suspense, and interactive mystery-dinner productions. Her feature film Fakers was released in 2020 as a four-part streaming mini-series. In May 2025, she recorded the sold-out stage play Enemy in My House, marking her return to filmed stage productions after nearly 13 years, with the recording slated for public release. She was commissioned by a Houston-based nonprofit to write Brown Skin Girl, a theatrical work for teenage girls that has been performed in various states. Additional credits include Soul Custody, The Call, When Men Pray (co-writer), I Need a Man, Cycles, and her popular mystery-dinner titles such as Murder at the Carver High Reunion and Murder at the Family Reunion.
In 2008, Lynn founded Urban Playwrights United, a national organization that supported independent playwrights and producers through conferences across the U.S. for more than a decade, and she authored Beyond the Chitlin' Circuit: The Ultimate Urban Playwrights Guide. A sought-after mentor, consultant, and script doctor, she continues to develop and support emerging talent in theatre and film. Her upcoming work includes the theatrical debut and filmed presentation of Prince of the Pulpit, a centerpiece of the Parables Entertainment 20th Anniversary celebration.
