Michael Whaley, originally from California, brings over 25 years of experience to the television and film industry as an actor, director, writer, and producer. He has appeared in numerous TV series and films, including NBC's Profiler and BET's LA Friday. He held recurring roles as Detective Paul Armstrong on CSI Miami and Detective Paul Bernstein on CBS' Early Edition. Additionally, he was a regular on NBC's popular series Sisters, portraying Dr. Wes Hayes for two years.
Michael has guest-starred on many prime-time shows such as House, NCIS, The Mentalist, The Event, Frasier, The Philanthropist, JAG, ER, Any Day Now, LA Law, Party of Five, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, I'll Fly Away, A Different World, Living Single, and Beverly Hills 90210. His film credits include A Class Act, The Nation, Fair Game, Retiring Tatiana, and Separate Lives. He has also featured in several TV movies like The Poseidon Adventure, Boy Meets Girl, Running Against Time, and Twice Upon a Time.
He launched his producing and directing career with the successful comedy Glasshouse, which debuted at The Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles and earned an NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Theatre Production in 1991.
In the early 1990s, Michael became a partner in Noir Film, a music video production company. Noir Film created videos for artists such as Tupac Shakur, Black Pearl, KRS 1, Four Non Blondes, and Technotronics. The company also collaborated with directors Allen & Albert Hughes (known for Menace to Society, Dead Presidents, and The Book of Eli) on several projects.
In 2001, Michael began production on his first independent feature film, Fair Game, which he wrote, produced, and directed. The film won multiple awards on the festival circuit and was released in 2006. His second feature, Peaches, was released on home video in 2008 and premiered on TV One in 2009. His third feature, Applause for Miss E, came out on home video in summer 2009 and premiered on BET in 2010.
