After finishing high school, she started studying German and English in Berlin. However, she eventually followed her father, actor Rainer Pigulla, and began taking acting lessons in Berlin. Upon graduating in 1988, she pursued further acting training in London, where she also voiced programs for the BBC's German radio. In 1990, she made her on-screen debut in Claude Chabrol’s film Dr. M. Subsequently, she mainly worked as a voice artist for various TV and radio stations, gaining prominence in the mid-1990s as a presenter on the news channel n-tv.
She provided the German dubbing voice for American actress Gillian Anderson in the TV series The X-Files. Pigulla's distinctive deep voice was highly sought after. She also dubbed actresses such as Demi Moore (Revelation, An Immoral Offer), Mercedes Ruehl (Last Action Hero), Téa Leoni (Deep Impact), Sharon Stone (Encounters - Intersection), and Naomi Campbell. Additionally, she voiced the video game character Nicole "Nico" Collard in the Bane of Baphomet series and performed voice acting in Battle Isle: The Andosia Conflict.
Her voice work extended to dubbing, commercials (e.g., Duckstein), TV reports (e.g., Galileo, Files - Reporters Fight for You, and Autopsy - Mysterious Deaths), and audiobook productions. Alongside Benjamin Völz, she appeared as a guest on four albums by the Schiller music project.
She also voiced Jane Collins in the radio play series Ghostbusters John Sinclair and was a principal narrator for the audiobooks The Bloodline and The Artist of Death by Cody McFadyen. She narrated several audiobooks of Ken Follett's novels, including Eisfieber, which won a gold award for audiobooks. Her voice is featured in the documentary 9/11 Mysteries - The Destruction of the World Trade Center. Pigulla also portrayed Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier in the TV series Hannibal.
In September 2018, it was announced that Franziska Pigulla would be unable to work as a voice artist for the time being due to illness. She passed away on February 23, 2019, at the age of 54 in Berlin. Her burial took place on March 12, 2019, at the Heerstraße cemetery in Berlin-Westend.
