Biyografi
Lech Mackiewicz graduated from the National State Academy of Theatre in Cracow, Poland, in 1983, and from UTS Sydney in 1987. He has acted and directed for theatre and film across Poland, Australia, and Japan.
His theatre directing credits include King Lear for Playbox (Melbourne), which toured nationally as well as to Japan and Korea; The Hour Before My Brother Dies for Jaracza Theatre (Poland); Krapp's Last Tape for Auto Da Fe Theatre Co. (Poland, Australia, Japan); and Felliniada at Belvoir St. Theatre.
Lech also translates stage plays, such as The Government Inspector by Nikolai Gogol (Russian to English) with Geoffrey Rush and Neil Armfield, staged at the Sydney Opera House (with Rush in the title role); The Hour Before My Brother Dies by Daniel Keene (English to Polish), staged by Teatr Jaracz in Lodz, Poland; Mr. Melancholy by Matt Cameron (English to Polish), staged by Teatr Ad Spectatores in Wroclaw, Poland; and White Marriage by Stanislaw Rozewicz (Polish to English), staged by La Boite Theatre Co. in Brisbane, Australia.
He wrote and directed two independent feature films in Poland: Here and There (ToTuToTam) and Divorce (Rozwod), both produced on no budget and screened on national television (TVP) and at festivals.
Lech co-wrote, co-directed, and co-produced (with Andrew Wholley) Left Ear, a fully independent Australian feature film that screened at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival 2007 (winning Best Screenplay, Best Actor, and Special Jury Prize), Toffi 2008 in Torun, Poland (Special Jury Prize), Raindance Film Festival 2008 in London, UK, and Lausanne Underground Film Festival 2008 in Switzerland (Opening Night film).
As an actor, Lech has appeared in numerous theatre, TV, and film productions, including: Kafka Dances (as Kafka, alongside Cate Blanchett) at the Sydney Theatre Company; The Idiot (as Myshkin) at the State Theatre of South Australia, Adelaide; Pentecost (Father Karolyi) at Sydney Theatre Company; Macbeth (Banquo) at Company B., Sydney; and in films such as The Pianist (Fello) Germany/France/Poland, directed by Roman Polanski; Till There Was You (Muzza), Australia, directed by John Seal; Warsaw "Warszawa" (Andrzej), Poland, directed by D. Gajewski; 4 in 1 (Wacek), Poland, directed by W. Nosul. His television credits include Marking Time (Hassan) on ABC Australia; Seven Deadly Sins (Andre) on ABC Australia; Singapour Sling (Spader) for Barron Television, Australia; and Wildside (Christian Jasek) directed by Gannon Jenkins, Australia.
