If you've watched a war film, sci-fi epic, or western from the 1940s or 1950s, you've likely seen Thomas Browne Henry multiple times. Alongside Morris Ankrum, Henry was one of the key actors portraying army officers who helped Earth fend off invading alien creatures and other unwelcome threats. His stocky build, distinctive facial features, commanding voice, and straightforward, authoritative style made him ideal for roles as generals, colonels, bankers, political leaders, and various authority figures throughout his extensive and prolific career. Born in California, he enjoyed a successful stage career as both actor and director, closely associated with the Pasadena Playhouse, before transitioning to film in 1948. His brother, William Henry, was also an actor. Over the next two decades, he portrayed numerous cops, sheriffs, district attorneys, professors, and, notably, army officers. He retired in 1970 and returned to his first passion, theater, once again working with the Pasadena Playhouse. He passed away in 1980.
