Michelle, an Emmy and BAFTA nominee, brings over 25 years of experience in production, having produced hundreds of episodes and earned more than 50 awards and nominations. Her career began with the PBS series Shining Time Station, featuring George Carlin. Throughout the 1990s, she contributed to numerous children’s programs such as Groundling Marsh, Real Kids Real Adventures, Zoboomafoo, and The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon.
In 2000, Michelle joined Nelvana as a Line Producer, producing PBS's popular George Shrinks and Moville Mysteries starring Frankie Muniz. She was promoted to Supervising Producer in 2002, where she developed and produced Rescue Heroes, Cyberchase, My Dad the Rock Star, and The Berenstain Bears. Following contract work with CBC and Cookie Jar Entertainment, she spent ten years at Radical Sheep Productions as Supervising Producer of the award-winning Stella and Sam.
Elevated to Vice President of Radical Sheep in 2012, Michelle developed and produced Yup Yups, Can You Imagine That?, The Bagel and Becky Show, and Fangbone!. More recently, as President of Radical Sheep Productions, she executive produced the global hit The Next Step alongside Fangbone!, The Bagel & Becky Show, Tee & Mo, Stella and Sam, The Yup Yups, and Ollie The Boy Who Became What He Ate.
In 2018, Michelle and her showrunner husband Ken Cuperus founded Headspinner Productions. Her accolades include the Canadian Screen Award, the Grand Prize from the Youth Media Alliance, multiple Kidscreen and Cynopsis Awards, and a Juno Award for producing the Stella and Sam album. Michelle also founded Women Drawn Together, a free organization dedicated to fostering learning, networking, and mentorship for women in the animation community, which has expanded to five cities with over 1,500 members in the past five years.
