Since graduating with a degree in Media Arts from RMIT, award-winning filmmaker Anna Brownfield has attracted significant media attention for her innovative work.
Her debut feature film, The Money Shot, closed the 2005 Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF) and received awards for Best Director, Screenplay, and Male Lead.
Her second feature, The Band, screened at the Cannes Film Market (France), opened the Berlin Porn Film Festival (Germany, 2009), was sold to multiple territories, and won "Hottest Feature" at the 2010 Feminist Porn Awards in Canada.
Making it Handmade!, her first documentary, premiered at the 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival and aired on ABC2 in 2011.
Her second erotic feature, The Bedroom, opened the Berlin Porn Film Festival in 2016 and was showcased at festivals in Switzerland, Italy, the USA, and Brazil. Anna received Best Director at the Toronto International Porn Awards and the SuzyForever Award for Direction at the PopPorn Film Festival.
Her documentary Wicked Women was screened on ABC iView. Funded by ABC, Screen Australia, and Film Victoria, it also appeared at MQFF, as well as queer film festivals in France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, and BFI Flare London.
A Big Life is her latest documentary. Funded by Screen Australia and the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, it premiered on the closing night of the Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
