Andreas Guenther was born in 1973 in Graz, Austria. He grew up in Constance and attended the Waldorf school in Überlingen. After graduating in 1995, he moved to Munich, where he worked as a bartender and at a parcel service before becoming a driver and set production assistant for a film production company. This experience led to his first acting role in the short film "Zwischen den Wegen" by Mathias Frik. That same year, he starred in his first leading role in the short film "Martin - Das erste Mal" by Markus Herling and appeared in Sönke Wortmann's "Charleys Tante."
From 1997 to 2000, Andreas took private acting lessons and participated in several workshops. In 1999, he made his cinema debut in Stefan Ruzowitzky's "Anatomie" and played the lead in the made-for-TV thriller "Jenny Berlin: Tod am Meer" (2000), directed by Johannes Fabrick. In 2001, he relocated to Berlin and has since appeared in numerous television films and movies, including "Gott ist tot" opposite Götz George and the international co-production "Baltic Storm," directed by Reuben Leder and starring Greta Scacchi, Jürgen Prochnow, and Donald Sutherland. One of his recent films, "Riding Up Front" by Markus Herling, premiered at the Berlinale in 2006. In "FC Venus" by Ute Wieland, released in German cinemas in April 2006, Andreas played the role of the charming kindergarten teacher Jurij Zille. He is considered part of the new generation of German actors.
In 2008, Andreas began working with a live personal coach, collaborating for over a year. In 2009, he took on the role of Detective Anton Pöschel in the successful crime series "Polizeiruf 110 - Rostock" (TV) on ARD/NDR. He also appeared in leading guest roles in various series such as "Alarm für Cobra 11," "Danni Lowinski," "Club der roten Bänder," "Der Bergdoktor," and more. In 2014, he starred in the RTL Event Movie "Götz von Berlichingen" alongside Henning Baum, taking on one of the leading roles. For his character "Lerse," he learned horse riding and sword fighting. He has appeared in several TV movies including "Familie," "Tod auf der Insel," and "Eins ist nicht von Dir." A particularly special moment was working with his mentor and friend Markus Herling on the Degeto movie "Opa wird Papa." He then starred in the series "Split Homicide," playing a pilot and the boyfriend of the female lead.
In 2017, Andreas assumed the leading role of Niko Falk in the new and successful German-Austrian co-production ARD/Degeto/ORF primetime series "Blind ermittelt." The series is produced by Monafilm Production, with Thomas Hroch serving as producer and managing director.
