Gregory Marquette, a Canadian native living and working in Hollywood, has a diverse background in network television across Canada, Britain, and the United States. He has held roles as Producer, Writer, and Television Director for CTV (Canadian Television Network), BBC London, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Network), and the Global Television Network.
A graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Marquette began his career in television journalism before moving into series drama and television variety. He later founded Polaris Entertainment Corporation, a successful film production company specializing in television commercials, film, and television productions, which he managed for eight years.
Throughout his career, he has produced, directed, and written for television, motion pictures, and documentaries, as well as directed hundreds of national television commercials. As a Director and Director of Photography for commercials, his clients have included Shell Oil, Seagram's, General Motors, General Foods, Canadian Airlines, Dodge, Boeing, McDonald's, AXA/Equitable Insurance, Swiss Telecom, Mobil Oil, and numerous international advertising agencies such as BBDO, Grey Advertising, McCann Erickson, DDB Needham, Young and Rubicam, and Lord Dentsu.
In Hollywood, Marquette primarily works as a screenwriter and director-screenwriter, having written commissioned screenplays for various production companies, producers, and directors.
Before focusing on writing full-time, he wrote and directed Innocents (2002), featuring Connie Nielsen, Anne Archer, Frank Langella, Mia Kirshner, Robert Culp, Jean-Hugues Anglade, and Keith David. He directed documentary segments on Vietnam featuring Oliver Stone and Ed Harris and filmed the science fiction movie Monarch of the Moon for Darkhorse Entertainment and Millennium Films, along with additional effects photography for Goose on the Loose, starring Chevy Chase and James Purefoy. He served as director of photography (2nd unit), director, and director of photography for the aerial unit on BOBBY Z, starring Paul Walker and Laurence Fishburne. Under contract with Boss Films, he shot the Disney/Lucasfilm theme park film Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Currently, he is preparing to direct BODY AND SOUL, a biopic about jazz singer Billie Holiday, scheduled for this fall. His screenplay Oba the Last Samurai is in pre-production in Japan.
His awards include Clios, Juno Awards, Bessies, Mobius, Bachy Award, International Marketing Awards, the Bronze Plaque, Can-Pro Awards for Journalism, various Film Festival Best of Show honors, and The Christopher Columbus Award for Best Film.
