Digby Cook started his career as a news writer at the Global Television Network, producing various newscasts and specials. He then moved to Australia to work as a reporter for the Darwin Sun newspaper. Upon returning to Canada, he became a news producer at CBC Toronto and contributed as a writer and producer for CBC Newsworld and The National.
Since then, Digby has concentrated on writing, producing, and directing documentaries and specials. His work has appeared on CTV, MTV (US), Discovery Canada, Discovery (US), PBS, TVO, History Television, The Travel Channel, CNN, Dr. Phil, and All India Television.
Some recent highlights include producing and directing "Courage & Compassion - The Story of Dr. Joseph Wong" in 2005 for Rogers and the Biography Channel. In 2006, he served as writer and interviewer for "The Hong Kong Connection - Canada & The New China," a five-part series for Rogers.
A history enthusiast, Digby was story editor and writer for "Historylands" on History Television and "Great Canadian Rivers" for Discovery. In 2008, he was Executive Story Editor for "Iris Chang & The Rape of Nanking" on History Television, which also had a worldwide theatrical release and won awards at the Atlanta Film Festival and the New York Film Festival.
He wrote "Ronnie Hawkins - Still Alive and Kickin'" for CTV, which won the 2006 Gemini Award for Best Biography. Another award-winning project he wrote was "The Prince of Pot" (2008) for CBC, which received a silver medal at the New York Television and Film Festival. He has also contributed field reports to the "Dr. Phil Show."
In 2012, Digby collaborated with Ontario's Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation on a video series promoting the province. The latest video, highlighting Ontario’s Financial Services sector, premiered at a special international event in London during the Olympic Games.
