Michael Furno is an Emmy Award-winning director, writer, and executive producer known for creating and producing original series, documentaries, and narrative-driven sports entertainment.
He is the creator of multiple long-running series including Carded (now in its sixth season), Grass Routes (now in its second season), Over the Plate (third season), Express Written Consent (6 seasons, 100+ episodes) and Buck on the Pond (5 seasons, 200+ episodes).
Furno has directed and produced award-winning independent films including How the Waves Were Won, a festival favorite featured on PBS, and Shorty, a nationally distributed short film recognized for both critical acclaim and philanthropic impact. He has also developed genre and graphic novel projects, including Minions of Ka and UnConventional, which built a cult following and was picked up for series development with IFC.
In branded entertainment, Furno co-created and executive produced hundreds of pieces of content, including the celebrity talk show Express Written Consent, which earned multiple industry nominations and was famously immortalized as a Jeopardy! answer. His collaborations with major studios and global brands include Universal Pictures, Disney, Apple, Google, and Sony.
A pioneer in streaming-era production and immersive media, Furno has been at the forefront of AR, VR, XR, and digital innovation in sports broadcasting, earning an Emmy Award and multiple nominations for Outstanding Digital Innovation.
Through his independent banner, Paper Shredders Productions, Furno continues to develop character-driven films and series including the nostalgic coming-of-age comedy Wondertow.
