Kazuma Suzuki is a Japanese actor hailing from Shizuoka, Japan, with over two decades of experience in Asian television and film. Fluent in both Japanese and English, he is also proficient in samurai swordsmanship, horseback riding, motorcycle riding, and various martial arts.
Kazuma began his career as a fashion model in Japan but aspired to work internationally. After facing several challenges, he secured a major break by walking in the Paris Collection runway. During fashion week, he auditioned for numerous international brands, but the outbreak of the Gulf War abruptly ended the event, forcing everyone to return home and leaving Kazuma’s international prospects uncertain. Half a year later, his fortunes changed when Benetton chose him as the first Japanese model for their global campaign. This opportunity reignited his international career, leading to photo shoots in Paris and widespread exposure, including posters in Times Square. Following Benetton, Kazuma enjoyed a successful modeling career across major fashion capitals such as Paris, Milan, London, and New York, working with designers like Giorgio Armani and Hedi Slimane, and appearing in prestigious magazines including Vogue, i-D, and Harper's Bazaar.
Despite occasional roles in front of the camera during his modeling years, Kazuma was determined to pursue acting seriously. He sought training from Yoko Narahashi, Japan’s esteemed method acting coach. His talent soon caught the attention of Yukio Ninagawa, the acclaimed Shakespearean director, who cast him as Ferdinand in his celebrated production of The Tempest.
Kazuma’s acting achievements include winning Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film Orokamono and becoming a series regular on two highly popular TV shows, Ten Urara and Aoi Tokugawa Sandai, earning him widespread recognition in Japan. Nevertheless, he maintained his ambition to work internationally.
By chance, the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission was looking for an artist to promote Japanese art abroad. After a competitive selection process, Kazuma was chosen as a Japanese fellow for the 2015 Japan-U.S. Exchange Friendship Program in the arts. This opportunity opened the door to Hollywood for him. Upon relocating to the U.S., he began auditioning for major projects, realizing his dream of working in both Japan and Hollywood.
