Heather Hale is a film and television director, screenwriter, producer, consultant, speaker, and author with over 200 hours of produced work, earning two Emmys, as well as ACE and Telly awards.
She directed, produced, and co-wrote the million-dollar thriller "Absolute Killers" (2011), which was promoted by distributors at Le Marché du Film (the Cannes Market) and the American Film Market, and sold at Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon.
The $5.5 million Lifetime Original Movie "The Courage to Love" (2000) was produced from her spec script after she secured Vanessa Williams to star alongside Stacy Keach, Gil Bellows, and Diahann Carroll.
Heather authored "How to Work the Film & TV Markets: A Guide for Content Creators," published by Focal Press/Routledge in 2017.
Her book "Story$elling: How to Develop, Market and Pitch Film & TV Projects" was released in 2019 by Michael Weise Productions.
She served as the Independent Film and Television Alliance's Industry Liaison for the 2013 American Film Market. During the four years of NBC/Universal’s acquisition/merger, IFTA recognized her as a qualified independent producer to pitch projects for their annual independent producer development fund.
Heather was Vice President of Event Programming for NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives), assisting hundreds of professionals in refining their pitch packages and sizzle reels, and coaching them to present TV concepts at annual markets. She has interviewed numerous executives for NATPE’s "How to Pitch TV" blog and membership newsletter.
For over twenty years, Heather has been an international keynote speaker, teacher, moderator, panelist, workshop facilitator, and embedded event producer for film and TV markets (including AFM and NATPE), festivals, writers’ workshops, colleges, universities, and Chambers of Commerce worldwide. She has led creative retreats such as StoryTellers on WalkAbout. Additionally, she has produced VR/AR, branded entertainment, and social media events at NAB for StoryTech and facilitated VIP tours at CES.
Her directing and producing credits include commercials, infomercials, industrials, computer-based training, professional certification web content, edutainment, and in-flight programming. She also directed, produced, and co-wrote the independent proof-of-concept pilot "Ghost Writer," starring Barbara Bain and Carmen Argenziano. Heather consults and teaches popular webinars and online classes for the Writers Store, Screenwriters University, and Stage 32.
She is a member of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (the organization behind the Emmys) and ShowBiz Mensans.
Heather is set to graduate with a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television, focusing on Directing, from the Savannah College of Art and Design in June 2023.
