Andre Boyer is a unique multi-hyphenate talent: Actor, Writer, and Chef. His on-screen work includes roles in Apple TV's For All Mankind, Fox's The Rookie and 911, and Netflix's Animal Kingdom, among others. You can also see him showcasing his culinary expertise on Tastemade’s "Make This Tonight," where he teaches viewers how to prepare impressive meals in 30 minutes. Andre is dedicated to producing episodic content that delves into the complexities of identity and community, blending sharp comedy with drama. Raised in Iwakuni, Japan for over a decade, he is of mixed Black and Filipino heritage, a background that shapes his distinctive perspective as an American outsider.
Although he grew up in a high-achieving military family that initially discouraged artistic pursuits, Andre defied expectations, inspired by his childhood love of '90s multi-cam sitcoms. He began his career in San Diego, working as an actor and interning at a small production company.
After relocating to Los Angeles and enduring a difficult period living in his car, Andre shifted from acting to creating his own content. He executive produced and wrote the web series Venice Boulevard, which gained momentum on Twitter and landed a brand partnership with Samsung. Using those funds, he produced the horror short Maelstrom, which earned festival accolades.
Before the pandemic, he wrote and directed eight episodes and a music video for the self-funded comedy series My "So-Called" Co-Star Life, reigniting his passion for '90s sitcoms. More recently, he co-produced the project Before Marriage, which had a brief festival run. Andre combines his disciplined upbringing with creative vision to develop meaningful, marketable episodic television.
Eager to understand every aspect of the industry, Andre discovered a little-known family connection: his great uncle, Gilbert Moses III, was a respected stage, screen, and television director best known for directing multiple episodes of the Roots miniseries. Though Andre never met him, he believes this legacy has helped guide him toward becoming the artist he aspires to be, and he remains grateful for that inspiration.
