Biyografi
Boyana Balta is the middle of three siblings, with Mirjana and Aleks. Her father, Velimir Balta, fled communism in the former Yugoslavia by pretending to go on vacation and seeking political asylum in France with his mother. Three years later, they immigrated to Montreal, Canada, where Velimir worked as a typewriter technician. Boyana's mother, Milena, originally from the Bosnian region of the former Yugoslavia, met Velimir through correspondence. After being pen pals overseas, they married by proxy and were already wed when Milena first met Velimir in person upon arriving in Montreal. A year later, the family moved to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where Boyana was born. Her parents run an office innovation store together, and her mother earned a BA from McMaster University in 2011.
During her childhood, Boyana participated in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including theatre, ballet, judo, improv, piano, gymnastics, ice skating, flamenco, jazz, modern dance, and traditional Yugoslavian folklore. She also spent a year living in Japan, attending Kanazawa Daigako Koko in Kanazawa, where she studied Japanese dance and kendo. Her mother aimed to provide her children with experiences and opportunities unavailable to kids in the former Yugoslavia. Boyana developed a strong passion for acting and ballet early on, performing on stage with renowned dance figures like Karen Kain, Robert DesRosiers, and Victor Litvinov as part of the Canadian National Ballet Youth Ensemble. She participated in productions at Hamilton Place Theatre, which seats 2,200, including "Pinocchio," "Babar," and "Invitation to Dance," as well as in local theatre. She also trained in theatre and improv through Lou Zamprogna's Theatre Aquarius summer and winter programs.
In 2005, Boyana moved to New York City to study at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute/Tisch program and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She has worked across film, television, commercials, and stage. Her most recent roles include appearances on CBS's NCIS, AMC's The Unheard, and The Last Exorcism II.
