Lou Wegner, born in Columbus, Ohio—the same state that produced notable figures like Steven Spielberg, Drew Carey, Annie Oakley, Bob Hope, Paul Newman, Clark Gable, and John Glenn—is an actor and animal advocate. He has appeared in projects such as "Trouble With the Curve" alongside Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, and Justin Timberlake, as well as Teenage Cocktail, The Pledge, A Christmas Tree Miracle, Warrior Showdown, the 2011 VH-1 Do Something Awards, Modern Family, and other film and television productions.
In 2010, Lou founded Kids Against Animal Cruelty (KAAC), a non-profit organization dedicated to animal rights, rescue, and adoption. He started KAAC at age 14 after learning that overcrowded shelters euthanize animals if they are not adopted. During his teenage years, KAAC expanded to 16 states with youth-led chapters and international branches in Belgium, Brazil, Greece, and Nepal. KAAC members actively campaign against puppy mills, the use of shelter gas chambers, promote spaying and neutering, and support wildlife conservation. Lou also advocates for educating his generation about responsible pet ownership.
With over 50,000 members and partner coalitions, and support from celebrities such as Betty White, Denise Richards, and Joanna Krupa, KAAC is the fastest-growing youth animal advocacy group in the country. Lou’s music video and PSA "1Life2Live," filmed at Baldwin Park Animal Shelter in Los Angeles, aims to raise awareness about the millions of animals facing euthanasia in high-kill shelters.
Lou has received backing from The American Humane Association, The Pet Philanthropy Circle, Subaru, and the ASPCA. His work has been featured on CNN and National Geographic.
When not acting, Lou dedicates himself to finding homes for shelter animals and caring for his eight rescue dogs. He holds a 1st degree Black Belt, is a certified dive instructor, a swordsman, equestrian, martial artist, parkour enthusiast, and pickleball champion. Lou inspires both teens and adults to advocate for change and serves as a role model to those around him.
