Mark Lund is an acclaimed filmmaker, screenwriter, and publisher, as well as a TV personality and actor. In 1993, he launched International Figure Skating magazine, growing it into the largest publication dedicated to the sport worldwide. His publishing company, Ashton International Media, expanded into a $4 million business with six magazines. Lund authored his debut book, Frozen Assets: The New Order of Figure Skating, in 2002. Since 1994, he has been a sought-after figure skating analyst for various television and media outlets, notably making over 220 appearances during the 2002 Winter Olympics on several national and international networks. His expertise in figure skating led to his role as a judge on FOX's Skating with Celebrities in 2006.
After leaving Ashton International Media, Lund founded Scene, a contemporary news magazine distributed across nine countries. Departing Scene in 2006, he pursued his interests in science fiction and space exploration by writing the feature-length screenplay First World. The screenplay earned three award nominations, and he later adapted it into a 25-minute short film that screened at 20 sci-fi conventions in seven countries and was released on Hulu in 2009. From 2009 to 2010, Lund served as Drama Director at Becker College, reviving the institution's drama program after a 20-year break. In 2011, he published the e-book First World: Covenant, a prequel novella to the First World screenplay, through The Ashton Times.
In January 2012, Lund's short film Justice Is Mind: Evidence premiered worldwide, paving the way for financing the feature-length adaptation. The full-length Justice Is Mind premiered on August 18, 2013, with Lund as executive producer and director. In July 2019, he completed principal photography on First Signal, his second feature film and a prequel to First World. First Signal premiered on March 26, 2021, and by June 2021, it had been selected for twenty-seven film festivals, winning seventeen awards.
