Lee Michael Cohn has built an international reputation over more than 25 years as a writer, director, producer, and acting coach. He launched his professional journey as an actor, working with David Mamet and was an original member of the Atlantic Theater Company. Recently, he produced the feature film "Bachelor Lions" for RiverRock Films, starring Mitchel Musso, James Maslow, Rene Olstead, Robert Davi, David Arquette, and Jon Lovitz. He is currently producing RiverRock's upcoming film, "Seven Days as a Kingpin." Additionally, the film "Celebrity Relapse," which he co-wrote with Jeffrey Eyres, is in development at RiverRock.
Lee wrote and directed the independent TV pilot "Crime Share" for Route 17 Productions. He also directed and co-created "Inside Private Lives," a successful theatrical production that was the LA Weekly Pick of the Week, received two LA Times recommendations, earned a rave review in the New York Times, and ranked in the Top 10 at The Edinburgh Theatre Festival out of over 2,000 shows. It also won the San Francisco Fringe Festival. His writing credits include plays, feature films, PSAs, radio commercials, and corporate industrial films; he also served as editor of the Santa Monica Mirror. Lee is an alumnus of the Warner Bros. Comedy Writers Workshop, selected as one of 25 writers annually from over 700 applicants.
He is the co-author of "A Practical Handbook For The Actor," a best-selling acting textbook over the past 25 years with more than 300,000 copies sold and ranking #1 on Amazon. The book is required reading in hundreds of theatre programs and has been translated into Dutch, Japanese, Turkish, and Chinese. A seasoned educator, Lee has taught acting for over 25 years at notable institutions such as NYU, the Atlantic Acting School, and the New World School of the Arts in Miami. He has also conducted acting workshops in cities including Los Angeles, New York City, Atlanta, Orlando, Vancouver, British Columbia, and London, U.K.
Lee holds a BFA in Drama from NYU/Tisch and received additional acting training at the Drama Studio in London. He earned an MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts (Screenwriting) from the University of California, Riverside. His elder daughter Danielle is an actress based in New York, and his younger daughter Ava is a recognized photographer in New York.
