Originally from Italy, Cleo Valente has lived in Los Angeles for the past 20 years and spent over ten years working as a Producer and Casting Director for major television networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, TLC, A&E, MTVtr3s, and others. She has developed four television shows: Throttle Junkies, Got 2 Go, Cat Fight Club, and a Christian reality series.
Holding a Ph.D. in computer science, she transitioned to film in 2000 by enrolling in the Emerging Film Program at the Los Angeles Film School. Driven by life experiences, historical themes, and a deep love for people, Ms. Valente is outgoing and charismatic, with filmmaking as her foremost passion. In 2006, she founded her own production company, Avanti Film Productions.
Ms. Valente served as Creator, Director, and Executive Producer of two feature documentaries: _Trans/Formed_ (2006), which won Best Documentary at the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival, and _La Revolucion Es La Musica_ (2008). As a screenwriter, she co-wrote three feature films—_Naked Ambition_, _Second Chance_, and _Where Cedar Trees Burn_ (which she plans to direct later this year)—as well as the 2010 short _George and Sofia_, which she also co-wrote and will direct.
