Forever a Brady at heart, Christopher Knight began his career as a child actor, famously portraying "Peter Brady" on the iconic TV series The Brady Bunch (1969). Though an unexpected icon, Christopher chose to focus his adult life on pursuits outside of entertainment, particularly in the technology and corporate sectors.
Born November 7, 1957, in Manhattan, New York, Christopher Anton Knight was the second of four children to Wilma (Stern) and actor Edward Knight (born Edward Kozumplik). When he was about three, his family relocated to Los Angeles. His father sought auditions for his two oldest sons to help fund their college education. While both Christopher and his older brother Mark auditioned, only Christopher was cast.
At age seven, Christopher began appearing in commercials for brands like Toyota, Tide, and Cheerios, as well as TV shows such as Gunsmoke (1955) and Mannix (1967). Soon after, he landed the role of middle brother "Peter Brady" on The Brady Bunch (1969), partially due to his dark features matching those of Robert Reed, cast as the family’s father. The show aired from September 1969 to August 1974 and became a beloved hit among teens of the time. Though it ended decades ago, it has remained in syndication continuously.
Reluctant fame and a passion for science and technology propelled Christopher toward a career in computing in 1988. His lifelong celebrity status honed his interpersonal skills, equipping him for success in sales and marketing. Beginning as an account sales manager at Martec, Inc., he secured the company's first $1 million sales order within eighteen months, becoming their top performer and employee of the year.
In October 1989, Christopher became Vice President of Design System Marketing and Sales at New Image Industry, steering the company into 3D rendering and imaging technology. By mid-1991, he and key associates transitioned the software engineering team and 3D technologies into a new private firm, Visual Software. As co-founder, Christopher was a pioneer in the consumer 3D graphics market, boosting annual sales from $0.4 million to $4.2 million in just ten months. Visual Software was acquired by Micrografx in January.
In late 1995, Christopher teamed up with Frank Paniagua to establish Kidwise Learningware, focusing on creating interactive educational entertainment for children. Serving as Executive Producer, he managed production, design, project oversight, and sales strategies.
February 1996 saw him take the role of Vice President of Sales at Adesso, a keyboard manufacturer for Macintosh and PC/Win95 systems, where he doubled sales within four months.
In August 1997, Christopher reunited with Paniagua at Integrated Micro Solutions (I.M.S.), later IXMICRO. Initially Vice President of Strategic Marketing, he was promoted to Vice President of Marketing after four months. Together, they raised annual sales from under $2 million in early 1997 to $63 million by 1998.
In late 1998, Christopher, Paniagua, and David Smith co-founded Eskape Labs after departing IXMICRO due to differing company directions. Anticipating a shift toward intelligent digital devices, Eskape Labs developed innovative "on wire" digital appliances that easily connect to computers, including first-to-market video devices. Hauppauge Computer Works acquired Eskape Labs in summer 2000. Hauppauge, the world’s largest maker of computer-based TV tuners, expanded its Macintosh-compatible product line with Eskape's technology.
Christopher continued leading the Eskape Labs brand at Hauppauge until spring 2003, then served as a consultant for the rest of the year.
Mid-2003, he took on executive involvement in Casting Networks Inc. (operating as LA Casting and SF Casting), an online talent exchange that revolutionized the casting process by replacing outdated methods with efficient internet-based solutions within nine months of its late 2002 launch.
Though his high-tech career limited his entertainment involvement, Christopher never fully retired from show business. He participated in numerous Brady films, TV movies, series, reunions, discussions, and retrospectives. Leveraging his celebrity, he hosted and served as spokesperson for various projects. In 2003, he hosted a segment on the Travel Channel’s TV Road Trip, starring the late John Ritter, and was invited to host the series’ second cycle, reigniting his interest in on-camera work.
Christopher joined the celebrity edition of Discovery Health Channel's Body Challenge in fall 2004 and appeared on VH1’s The Surreal Life (2003). The show's success and his high-profile romance with co-star and America's Next Top Model winner Adrianne Curry brought him renewed attention. Embracing this unique second chance at acting, Christopher enjoyed the experience as a mature, seasoned performer. In 2005, he made guest appearances on WB’s Blue Collar TV and ABC’s Less Than Perfect, and starred in the independent film Light Years Away (2006) alongside Eric Roberts. He also collaborated on several projects with then-wife Adrianne Curry.
Since 2004, Christopher has been the spokesperson for the American Counseling Association’s "Healthy Skin, Healthy Outlook" campaign, honored with the Gold Triangle Award for excellence in dermatology public education for two consecutive years. In 2002-2003, he also represented the National Consumer League’s "AD/HD Campaign to Inform the Nation," speaking at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., about AD/HD—a condition he was diagnosed with at 40. The campaign aims to educate the public, dispel myths, and reduce stigma surrounding AD/HD. He has also promoted the personal fitness product Ab Lounge XL®.
Aware of his fame and enriched by experience, Christopher is eager to re-engage with the entertainment industry while maintaining his interests in the corporate world.
