Mita Vashisht is an Indian actress known for her work in television, film, and theater. She graduated from the National School of Drama, New Delhi, in 1987.
Born in Pune, Maharashtra, India, she is the daughter of Rajeshwar Dutt Vasisht, a retired Colonel of the Indian Army, and Meenakshi Mehta Vasisht, a teacher and musician.
Before attending the National School of Drama, she completed her postgraduate studies in literature at Punjab University, Chandigarh.
Mita has acted in both offbeat cinema and commercial projects. She has also been involved in theater, including scriptwriting. Since 2004, she has performed a solo play in English and Hindi called 'Lal Ded,' which is based on the life of the medieval Kashmiri mystic Lal Ded (Lalleshwari, 1320–1392).
She has written and produced three short films and a television serial and served as an executive producer for the award-winning film 'The Name of a River.'
In June 2001, Vashisht founded Mandala, a space dedicated to arts collaborations, research, and education. She is a visiting faculty member at several premier design, film, and theater institutes in India. Alongside her acting career, she is actively engaged in social and humanitarian initiatives.
Currently, she portrays the strict principal in the popular Indian TV drama series 'Suvreen Guggal.
