Brooklyn Lowe was born on February 18, 1994, in Philadelphia, PA, to Wandra Lowe, a single mother who overcame the challenges of inner-city life to become a respected nurse and professor at Johns Hopkins University. From a young age, Brooklyn showed exceptional intelligence and artistic talent, learning to read by age 3 and write by age 4. By kindergarten, she was crafting short stories and poetry while mastering multiplication. Despite her advanced academic skills, she had a strong passion for the arts, especially painting and drawing.
Raised in humble circumstances, Brooklyn’s mother, Wandra, was a dedicated single parent committed to improving their lives. She frequently commuted by bus with baby Brooklyn to attend nursing school at Neumann College, consistently ranking at the top of her class despite hardships, including the impact of Hurricane Floyd in 1999. With faith and the support of the Red Cross, they were provided a new home and a Christmas tree that year. Brooklyn’s optimism and curiosity fueled her creative expression, often writing stories inspired by daily life experiences shared with her mother, and re-enacting them with her Barbies. It quickly became evident to those around her that Brooklyn was a natural storyteller.
At age 6, Brooklyn discovered her true passion: performing arts. After watching Tyra Banks and Lindsay Lohan in the film Life-Size, she announced to her mother her desire to act in movies. Wandra recognized this calling and fully supported her daughter’s ambitions. Over the years, Brooklyn attended 10 different schools across 4 states due to her mother’s career as a travel nurse, consistently excelling academically and earning top honors. Wandra encouraged Brooklyn to cultivate other talents like singing and dancing alongside acting.
Brooklyn’s dedication paid off with every performance and audition, eventually earning recognition from the International Thespian Society (ITS). Following her mother’s career moves and with God’s grace, they relocated to California. The day after graduating with honors from Monrovia High School, Brooklyn moved into a studio apartment in Koreatown, just a mile from Paramount Studios. Wandra continued to provide emotional and financial support, helping Brooklyn make significant strides in her career. Brooklyn achieved her dream of writing as Seventeen Magazine’s first dating blogger and landed her first major acting role in the acclaimed short film Change by Melissa Osborne of Provocative Films, which won numerous festival awards.
Her breakthrough came as a series regular on Blue: A Secret Life, starring Julia Stiles and directed by Rodrigo Garcia. Originally a web series, it was picked up by the Lifetime Network in the USA and UK, marking Brooklyn’s television debut. She portrayed the lead character Francesca for two of the show’s three seasons.
Today, Brooklyn Lowe resides in Atlanta, Georgia, a burgeoning East Coast film hub. She continues to follow her calling as a gifted storyteller and is thriving as a writer.
