Anton Bakarski was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 1995, he earned an MA in Cinematography from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. During his studies, his student films competed in and won awards at some of the most prestigious short film festivals, including Cannes, Karlovy Vary, Munich, Oberhausen, Clermont-Ferrand, and Drama. He started his professional career as a camera operator, collaborating with cinematographers such as Kees Van Oostrum, Russell Boyd, Shelly Johnson, Simon Duggan, Thomas Kloss, and Ed Wild. With over 20 years of experience and hundreds of credits, Anton has worked with both film and digital formats. He has served as Director of Photography and camera operator on feature films, documentaries, commercials, and TV series across various genres. Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, he has filmed internationally in the US, Russia, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Qatar, Romania, and other countries worldwide. His work has been featured at major international film festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Karlovy Vary, Shanghai, and Los Angeles. He is an active member of the Bulgarian Association of Cinematographers (BAC) and IMAGO.
