Maria Cristina Mastrangeli is an Italian-French actress. She began her career as a dancer in the 1980s on the popular Italian television show "Pop Corn." Her most significant acting training took place with teachers from the Actors Studio: from 1985 to 1990 at the Duse Studio in Rome with Francesca de Sapio, followed by studies with Susan Strasberg and Geraldine Baron. In 1996, she was invited to teach Method Acting at Cuba's National Cinema School. Between 1986 and 1991, she played leading roles at Teatro Argentina, the National Theater of Rome, working with Nikita Michalkov, Marcello Mastroianni, Maurizio Scaparro, and Roberto Guicciardini. From 1998 to 2024, she worked extensively in France with Octogone Laboratoire, a theater company focused on contemporary drama. For Octogone, she performed, directed, and produced over ten productions across fifteen years, also participating in numerous European projects. Between 2016 and 2024, she toured France with her stand-up theater conference, How to Write a Successful (Auto)biography, Incidentally, We'll Talk About Feminism, which narrates the story of Italian feminism in the 1970s from the perspective of a young girl clinging to her militant mother's skirts. In film, she has been directed by Giuseppe Piccioni, Marco Risi, Silvio Soldini, Susanna Nicchiarelli, Claude Chabrol, and Francis Girod. She has also worked in genre films and was repeatedly cast by director Luigi Cozzi (aka Lewis Coates) after their initial collaboration on Paganini Horror (1991). In August 2025, the television movie Tuer au nom de Dieu, directed by Hugues Nancy and broadcast on France2, featured her as Catherine de' Medici. From March 2025 to January 2026, she portrayed Agata Rolando in the historical soap opera Un posto al sole. In 2026, she appeared in the films L'Incident by Victoria Musiedlak and Il prezzo by Arash Abbasi.
