Johnny Alonso is an American actor known for his subtle yet intense character portrayals. Born in New York and raised in Baltimore City, he gained widespread recognition for his six-episode recurring role as Joey D., the tough, no-nonsense band manager on One Tree Hill. Following this, Johnny secured the lead host position on the Emmy-winning series NASA 360, filming 14 episodes across the globe.
He then starred as the charismatic anti-hero Trick in the critically acclaimed Coffin film franchise (Coffin, Coffin II, Coffin III), a role he also produced, elevating the series with limited national theatrical release and distribution through Redbox, streaming platforms, VOD, DVD, Netflix, Amazon Prime, iTunes, Hulu, Horror Channel, IFC, and Sundance. Additionally, Johnny appeared as the colorful horse-riding outlaw Big Joe in the period western Bill Tilghman and the Outlaws.
Raised amidst the arts, Johnny's strong musical and vocal talents have landed him numerous film and television roles. These include recurring as the angsty goth bass player Kazz in two episodes of Gotham, portraying Mickey DiNizio, the rock ’n’ roll boyfriend to Crissy Sevear in the Growing Pains Reunion: Return of the Seavers, playing Johnny Kowolski, a rebellious bass player in ten episodes of the PBS series Numbers Alive, and embodying the dark, troubled rocker Peter Gunn in the haunted house horror film The Riddle House. His edgy look and attitude have made him the ideal rock band member for various projects. Notably, Johnny delivered a powerful performance as the dark character Jody in the critically acclaimed film What Death Leaves Behind.
Beyond acting, Johnny is a multi-talented singer and musician skilled in guitar, bass, piano, and drums. A passionate gearhead, he enjoys rebuilding classic cars and motorcycles, motorcycle riding, off-roading with his Jeep or ATV, horseback riding, and is a professional-level snowboarder.
