Gurmeet Brar is an award-winning academician, writer, director and producer in the Indian film industry. He was born and brought up in the Indian province of Punjab. An alumnus of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) New Delhi and Alliance Francaise de Chandigarh, Gurmeet Brar is a prolific author and recipient of 'The Jewel of India Award' and has been conferred the Gurmukh Singh Musafir Award, the highest literary award of the Govt. of Punjab for his contribution to the art. He is a polyglot, having knowledge of English, French, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and basic German. Prior to turning as a filmmaker, he had authored three literary books which were well received by the readers. He has been an ad filmmaker for a decade. He has completed some commercial filmmaking contracts with the state governments and has produced and directed some music videos also. His directorial debut, Hijrat (2018), has been critically acclaimed across the globe. Hijrat (2018) has brought laurels in almost two dozen international film festivals in India, the United Kingdom, Canada, Norway and Ireland.The film has been awarded the Special Jury Award at ISFF London, the debut director's Golden Fox Trophy at CICFF Calcutta, best director and best film awards at the IFFSG film festival, the best director award at the Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) and the Best Actor award at the International Film Festival at Ottawa (Canada). His next two projects, one Anglo-Hindi and another Indo-French, are at the pre-production stage. His latest book, 'Love Lust Lies And Liaison', is making waves around literary circles now-a-days.
