Erika Barraza grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area to El Salvadoran parents and is of Maya indigenous heritage. She is a first generation American, fluent in Latin American Spanish. She started acting at age 12 in a middle school production of "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown". She began acting classes and vocal training in high school and continued through college. A lifelong athlete, she is an expert long distance swimmer, trained in boxing, rock climbing, and yoga. She Produces and Directs virtual reality experiences, traditional films, and innovates with new media technologies to explore the future of entertainment. In 2025 she received a Producers Guild of America Innovation Award nomination, which recognizes significant accomplishments in the application of emerging technology for work producing the short film "Territory: Immersive VR Experience". She has trained in several acting techniques including, Meisner, Method, Chubbuck, with skills in Motion Capture, Virtual Production, and Stunts.
