Libby Langdon is an interior designer, author, product designer, and makeover television personality, and the creative force behind New York City-based design firm Libby Interiors, Inc. She was the interior designer and host of the FOX makeover show Design Invasion (2004), a collaboration between FOX and Banyan Productions (known for Trading Spaces, 2000), which premiered on September 13, 2004, and aired daily on FOX. Each episode began at 7:30 AM with Libby surprising a homeowner by knocking on their door, then asking them to leave while she completely transformed a room in their house within 10 hours. The homeowner returned later that day to see the fully renovated space.
As an actress, Libby has appeared in numerous films. Her credits include The Door in the Floor (2004) with Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger, Corn (2004), When Zachary Beaver Came to Town (2003) alongside Jonathan Lipnicki, and Chinese Coffee (2000) opposite Al Pacino. She also appeared in Shallow Hal (2001) with Gwyneth Paltrow, Sidewalks of New York (2001) with Ed Burns, Kingpin (1996) with Woody Harrelson, Outside Providence (1999) as Alec Baldwin’s wife, Say You'll Be Mine (1999) with Gil Bellows and Nicky Katt, and the critically acclaimed Federal Hill (1994). On television, Libby has appeared in The Practice (1997), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), and NBC’s Another World (1964) playing the villainous Kay. Additionally, she has been featured on Food Network’s Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay (1998) and The Robin Leach Cooking Show with Bill Boggs.
Libby has also produced films, including A Shot at Glory (2000) starring Robert Duvall and Michael Keaton, Outside Providence (1999), Say You'll Be Mine (1999), and Federal Hill (1994), all of which she also acted in. In 2019, Libby Interiors Inc. completed over 21 design projects nationwide, following more than 17 projects the previous year. She authored Libby Langdon's Small Space Solutions and was a long-time House Beautiful columnist with her "Libby's Makeover" column running for two years. Langdon frequently contributes to top shelter magazines, with her interior projects and home products featured in Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Better Homes and Gardens, Domino, and Woman’s Day.
Langdon has appeared regularly as a design expert on NBC's TODAY, HGTV's Small Space Big Style, The View, The Rachael Ray Show, The Early Show, and NBC's Open House. Drawing inspiration from her makeover television work, she designs home furnishings based on real conversations with consumers about their lifestyles and desires. Langdon is gaining recognition for her expanding licensed home-furnishings collections. In October 2020 at High Point Market, she launched her first decorative accessories line with A&B Home. In October 2019, she introduced a complete home line of upholstery and case goods for Fairfield Furniture, along with her first wall-decor collection with Paragon. Her Libby Langdon Upholstery Furniture line features sleek, modern silhouettes and is available nationwide. The Libby Langdon Lighting Collection for Crystorama reflects her passion for elegant chandeliers and fixtures, offering transitional designs with a contemporary twist.
Libby has designed interiors for six restaurants located in New York City, Palm Beach, Florida, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
An avid cook, Libby’s recipes have appeared in Bon Appétit magazine, including one featured on the cover of the July 1994 issue, and she has been profiled in Food & Wine magazine. Recently, she led a makeover project with the She Builds Women in Real Estate committee in New York City, directing over 140 female volunteers to transform a public housing community center in 12 hours. She reimagined the center’s design and secured a donation of more than 340 gallons of paint from Sherwin-Williams for the one-day renovation. Libby also joined the board of the Bienenstock Furniture Library in High Point, NC, where she advocates for this valuable resource serving the home-furnishings industry.
Langdon tours the country delivering design seminars to consumers, designers, and retailers covering all aspects of design. She also conducts book signings and appears on local and national radio and television programs to promote her collections and share design advice.
