Updating an Existing Title

Already see a movie or TV show on GAWBY that needs corrections or additional information? Here's how to update it.

Overview

Updating an existing title uses the same form as adding a new one, but the fields are pre-populated with the current data. You can modify any section, and your changes will be submitted for review.

Finding the Title to Edit

  1. Search for the movie or TV show using the search bar at the top of any page.
  2. Navigate to the title's detail page.
  3. Click the "Edit" button on the title page. You'll need to be signed in.

The Edit Form

The edit form is the same multi-section form used for adding titles, with all existing data pre-loaded. You'll see:

  • Existing data filled in across all sections that have information.
  • The same section dropdown to navigate between sections.
  • The ability to add new entries (e.g., additional cast members) or modify existing ones.

What Can Be Changed

You can update any section of a title's information:

  • Correct errors in names, dates, or other details.
  • Add missing cast, crew, or company credits.
  • Update release dates as new information becomes available.
  • Add plot summaries, trivia, quotes, or other content.
  • Add or update technical specifications.
  • Add keywords, filming locations, alternate titles, and more.
You don't need to fill in every section — just update the ones you want to change. Sections you don't modify won't be affected.

Common Update Scenarios

Correcting Errors

If you notice incorrect information (wrong year, misspelled name, wrong genre), navigate to the relevant section, make the correction, and submit.

Adding Missing Cast or Crew

Go to the Cast or appropriate Crew section. Existing entries will be shown. Add new entries in the empty rows below the existing data.

Updating Release Dates

Navigate to the Release Dates section to add release dates for additional countries or update existing ones.

Adding Content

Sections like Trivia, Quotes, Goofs, and Plot Summaries can always benefit from additional contributions. Navigate to the relevant section and add your content.

Review Process

Updates go through the same review process as new title submissions. An editor will review your changes and approve, modify, or reject them. Track your submission status at My Submissions.
